Dr. Michele Mouttapa is an assistant professor in the Health Science Department at Cal State Fullerton.  Dr. Mouttapa has extensive research experience in psychosocial factors related to adolescent health.  She has published peer-reviewed manuscripts and presented conference posters on topics including adolescent smoking initiation, alcohol consumption among college students, violence among preadolescents in inner cities, and HIV and substance use prevention among incarcerated juvenile offenders.  She is currently working with community based organizations and faith-based organizations to increase their capacity building.  Dr. Mouttapa teaches Statistics and Research Methods in the Master of Public Health program at CSUF.  As a statistical consultant and program evaluator, Dr. Mouttapa has evaluated projects for various local organizations, the YMCA, the Dairy Council of California, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Dr. Mouttapa is actively involved Center for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and Obesity Prevention, and is currently co-investigator for two grants: one that examines the nutritional and exercise aspects of children with Prader-Willi Syndrome, and one that evaluates PowerPlay-OC-MD, a pediatrician-directed intervention in Santa Ana that targets overweight and obese children. Dr. Mouttapa is also an Associate Editor of the Californian Journal of Health Promotion, a peer-reviewed journal that is entirely online and accessible to the general public.

Dr. Mouttapa is the Evaluator of the Fullerton Collaborative project.
