Dr. Carter Rakovski is an assistant professor of Sociology at Cal State Fullerton. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Master's in Statistics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Prior to coming to CSUF, she worked as a statistical consultant for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Bentley University, and the Social and Demographic Research Institute in Amherst. At the VA, Dr. Rakovski was part of a research team that measured the quality of care provided by nursing homes to their residents. She has also researched the effect of organizational characteristics of nursing homes, such as profit status, on patient outcomes. Her current research involves nursing home workers, intersectional identities (race, gender, and citizenship), and care work. In addition, she contributes to the Fibromyalgia Research Team at CSUF. Her research has been published in a range of journals including the Sociology of Health and Illness, Medical Care, Research in Higher Education, and the Journal of Accounting Research.
