Dr. Koren Fisher is an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Cal State Fullerton. Professor Fisher previously worked as a researcher at the University of Saskatchewan where she helped to develop and implement a community-based health promotion strategy to increase physical activity. Her previous research has looked at the longitudinal effects of physical activity, sedentary behavior, and functional fitness on cardio-metabolic risk factors, health services utilization, and quality of life in older adults. Dr. Fisher continues to have a research interest in chronic disease prevention, successful ageing, and health services utilization. As a new faculty member at CSUF and a new Southern California resident, she is looking forward to working with community-dwelling older adults and the community organizations that support them, in order to develop effective and sustainable approaches to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviors.
